half full, llc Receives 2020 National small Business Week Award
Microenterprise of the Year in Rhode Island and New England
Providence, RI - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently announced the winners of the 2020 National Small Business Week Awards, recognizing exceptional small businesses across the country. half full, llc, located in Providence, RI, received the award for Microenterprise of the Year in Rhode Island and New England.
Nominated by Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses, Founder and President, Rebecca Twitchell, accepted the award from Director Mark S. Hayward at the half full, llc office in Providence, otherwise known as “The 400,” and what once served as event space to small businesses and nonprofits in the area.
“We are incredibly honored to be receiving this award from the Small Business Administration.” shared Twitchell. “It is bittersweet for us as so many small businesses are struggling in the state of RI and all throughout the country. We received the news of our award right at the start of COVID-19, and I had this information in the back of my mind as we navigated the last six months of our own challenges. It was one of the many things that kept me going.”
Known for its strategic and creative ways to help clients “overcome obstacles in the way of their perceived impossible,” half full, llc was an in-person professional services business before the COVID-19 crisis, offering retreats, team building, event-planning and marketing services. Despite their love of working in-person with individuals and teams to build strong team culture and creative strategies for the future, they quickly made a pivot to virtual service offerings at the onset of the pandemic. “We are used to challenges in this business,” continued Twitchell. “The backbone of why we exist supports our desire to help individuals and teams overcome their own challenges in the way of moving forward. I am grateful that the team can be recognized by the SBA for their hard work over the last few years.”
"The small business community here in Rhode Island is one of the greatest in the country," said SBA District Director Mark S. Hayward. "These businesses have demonstrated creativity, business acumen, staying power, and the success needed to rise to the top of the business world. They have also displayed the intuition and resiliency in this post-COVID world to pivot their businesses and find new and inventive ways to keep their products and services relevant and marketable. These men and women are the true embodiment of entrepreneurship and the Rhode Island motto; Hope."
